HUTTL - Opus (Multi-striped finish)

I don't know much about the company called HUTTL, but I heard that in the mucical instrument market, the HUTTL company is well known as one of the high-end company of the horns and winds instruments from Germany. This guitar is made in late 50s or early 60s by the HUTTL company, called OPUS. Same model with below red-black sunbuest model but you could see these 2 OPUS has totally different specs.

Sides and back board are decorated with MAPLE and MAHOGANY woods. I can find those striped woods are on the maple material as a veneer construction. So the weight of this archtop feels just a little bit heavy. As you could see on the right below picture, comparing the 2 OPUS, the RED Opus also has the multi-striped sides but it's only by lacquer coloring. This Natural Opus by the differnt wood stripe. Cool Idea! Even though the lacquering is only simply NATURAL.

This archtop was restored by the American guitar shop - Elderly Instruments - . The Binding of the neck (originally white perloid) was newly re-binded with the brown wood material. Also pickguard (made by wood) was newly made for it, Tuners were replaced with Grover golds. Tailpiece also replaced a new one. But the other characters are all original - Wood-binding of the soundholes, Multi-striped headstock, wood inlays on the fingerboard and so on. Body depth is 85mm, width is 420mm at the lower bout. Scale is 640mm. Not a deep sounds acoustically, but I enjoy the KILLER looking! (But who care about the backboard of guitar when I play?)

HUTTL - Opus (Red Sunburst Finish)

Just a little bit kind of the Cheesy Archtop made in West Germany in 60s era. Manufactured by Huttl. The model called OPUS. The most elaborate model of this company. Some other model of this company has the same coloring on the sides with this guitar (Not multiple binding, these stripes were made of lacqure-coloring. RED and NATURAL).

The soundholes are the charactaristic shape. Top is solid spruce, sides and back made of laminated maple (or some other woods). Guessing the fingerboard was rosewood, but I see this wood-material are looks light (not only the color but also the weight). The Tailpiece was similer with the hofner - Lylaform - one, but this was more simply shape (some other company in West Germany like Klira etc using same tailpiece). Neck scale is 640mm with perloid inlays and bindings. Recently I put the Schaller Metal-plate pickup onto this one.

HUTTL / multi-striped body

Huttl made some archtop models with characteristic gorgeous(?) multi-striped coloring in its 60s era. The left one is no-name model by Huttl. it has multi-striped side pattern (it made with natural and brown laquering). Also the back of the body has multi-striped design but the back striping was made by the different materials (Maple and Mahogany).

The right one is also the OPUS by Huttl, but having the layered headstock, striped top board, and Mahogany back board with 3 stripes. This Opus is now on sale at the Palm guitars in Amsterdom with the Schaller 1PU metal-plate engraved the Framus logo.

HUTTL / doubleneck guitar (customized)

Recentry I found this crazy shaped doubleneck guitar was listed on eBay. Soon i could find this was made under the brand name of Huttl of Germany (the words of W.Huttle was engraved onto the gold plate placed between the 2 necks), and you also could find a lot of charactors that similer with the above Huttl archtops.

This has a Bass (4 string) neck but seems to be a same scale with normal guitar.... should be called Tenor guitar neck? and multi-triangled soundholes are on the upper side of the topboard.

Not sure if the 4 pickups were original stocks or not, but sure those pickups are changed or re-mounted onto the topboard by someone before. Also I'm not sure if this instruments are useful for playing or not , but really interesting, wired guitar.
